Flip Mino HD is amazingly sturdy, light in weight and also resistant to scratches. This pocket camcorder is really built to absorb shocks and rough handling. The lid for the USB plug on the side opens and closes at the flip of the switch and seems to be well made, it works effortlessly. Flip Mino HD is so light that it can be plugged into
the Laptop’s USB port and can be suspended over the side of the table without putting any strain on the cord or unbalancing the Laptop.

This device is also made from glazed material that retains the smudges from hand and fingers, which has to be cleaned with soft cloth or tissue paper regularly, if you don’t want to look at smudges. This camcorder fits easily in pants or shirt pockets and is very easy to hold and take pictures almost like a cell phone.

The Flip Mino HD has a rectangular shape, so it fits quite comfortable in the palm of the hand and so movements can be easy and smooth, no need for an eye piece or looking into any view finder opening to see where the target is for filming. Despite the smooth-shiny surface, this Camcorder can be gripped comfortably and held firmly. The body is also water resistant if not submerged in water, although getting the device really wet, as with most electronics will probably ruin it and make it unusable.

It has a tiny screen, measures less than 2 inches and gives read out data above and below. You get to see exactly what you are recording. There is no way to film yourself with this device unless you have help.

The sound is fairly good on playback even though you can’t monitor sound while filming since there is no jack for a headset. On this Flip Mino HD controls are basic as found
on most camcorder except for a few that are of the soft touch variety.

The speakers sit on either side of the screen and actually do a pretty decent job of playing back the audio recorded. Unfortunately, unless there is a TV around for attaching to the Mino HD via the included composite video cable, the internal speakers on the device are your only option for monitoring the audio.
